— How Easy is It? —
SOLO SERIES
Designed for maximum efficiency. These canoes track well, come up to speed easily and have a long easy glide. Their low centres and ends mean that they behave well in a breeze. Their narrow beams and elliptically arched mid-ship profiles ensure easy reach for the solo paddler, kindly sea-keeping characteristics and modest stability. These are the thoroughbreds of Ashes’ line of canoe models.
ANGLERS SERIES
Canoes designed for anglers, photographers, birdwatchers and families. Models in this series have high initial stability making for a stable platform for those who want to concentrate their efforts on their next cast or photograph. Coincidentally, their broad beam and full ends make them perfect for families with active children or unruly dogs.

Building a Cedar Strip Canoe
It’s Probably Easier than you Think.
In this new series we discuss the essentials of a cedar strip build … you will need to have some woodworking skills or the patience to acquire them; a budget for reasonably good materials and tools; a place to build it; and some free time.
Development Program
Builders Wanted
Keen observers will note that a number of our canoe building plans are available by special request only. These are hulls that are somewhere in the design/prototype loop. We’d be happy to let you build from them (and might even give you the plans for free!) but only with the knowledge that you’ll be one of the first. For brave and adventurous souls, this may just be the bee’s knees. If you’re of that bent, contact the designer at Ashes, Trevor Paetkau, and we’ll open a conversation about how you can be part of the development program.
