There were puddles this morning, the rain ran over the gunnels and warmed my fingers as I portaged the boat to the river … I was glad to have David with me. His enthusiasm for his work and his special way of seeing animated my mood. We spent 30 minutes chatting, waiting for the sun to come up enough to light the river, and then another 45 minutes; me with a paddle and David behind the lens. By 9am we said goodbye … he off to be with his family and me with mine.

The pictures on this page were never meant to be published; the idea was that we would capture the light at dawn and bright reflections on the water. Instead, I think David captured something better.
